Title:
Inspection and Evaluation of Sediment Control Ponds
Start date:
01 Jan 2013
Licence Condition
The EPA may claim on a financial assurance under s303 of the POEO Act if a licensee fails to carry out any work or program required to comply with the conditions of this licence.
The premises is located upstream of the Glen Innes water supply system of Beardy Waters and must implement best practice in surface water management systems to minimise sediments leaving the pemises. The licensee must review, inspect and confirm the existing surface water management systems on the premises to ensure they are meeting the designed standards: 1. Inspect, review and confirm all surface water management systems for the clean water diversions around the site are still in place and operating appropriately or undertake any required maintenance identified. 2. Inspect, review and confirm all surface water management systems for the dirty water, sediment dams on the premises are in place and operating appropriately with sufficient capacity to retain 47.4mm over a 5 day period or undertake any required maintenance identified. Note: All dirty water containment structures should be designed using the document "Soils and Construction, Managing Urban Stormwater, Volume 1, 4th edition, Landcom March 2004" as a best practice reference document. 47.4 mm equates to the 5 day 90%ile rainfall depth for Tenterfield sourced from Table 6.3a of this document. a) any discharge from sediment dams should occur solely as a result of rainfall measured at the premises that exceeds 47.4 millimetres over any consecutive 5 day period immediately prior to the discharge occurring; and b) all practical measures must be implemented to dewater all sediment dams within 5 days of rainfall such that they have sufficient capacity to store run off from a 47.4 millimetre, 5 day rainfall event. A report must be provided to the EPA Armidale office by 30 January 2014 providing details of any required works to be undertaken at the premises to upgrade the stormwater management systems at the premises to meet the above requirements. Due Date 30 January 2014
